Allergy Food Test -Price $245 or Airborn Price $265/Serum

Allergies are quite common. Over 20% of the population is allergic to something. Food allergies can have an immediate or delayed reaction. Obviously immediate food reactions can be identified easily. However, delayed food reactions are much more difficult to diagnose. The reaction can occur up to 3 days after ingestion of the reactive food, making it hard to link one's symptom to the food eaten several days ago. Such hidden allergies are often the cause of many "chronic symptoms." These symptoms can come in the form of sleep disturbance, inflammatory arthritis, recurrent infection, mouth ulcers, eczema and other skin rashes, hives, premenstrual symptoms, fluid retention, colitis, epilepsy, hypoglycemia, weight problems and more. A simple Food Allergy test can help determine which foods are intolerable from milk to nuts. A specialized diet is usually included in a food allergy test.

IgG Food Antibody Assessment(87 IgG foods + Total IgE): Price $290.00
The Genova Diagnostic's IgG Food Profile IgG Food Antibody Assessment is a food intolerance test which helps identify those with true IgE-mediated allergies as well as IgG-mediated food intolerances. This immunological food intolerance test measures IgG antibody levels to 87 foods, and total IgE. Additional intolerance tests are also available for regional inhalants, molds, vegetables, and spices. This antibody food intolerance test is ideal for patients who may suffer from delayed reactions/sensitivities to specific foods. It may also provide insight on intolerances, or non-immune responses, to certain foods. Additionally, the IgG Food Antibody Assessment includes a customized True Relief rotation diet plan

87 IgG Food Antibodies

Why use the food intolerance test?
The incidence of food sensitivities has increased dramatically over the years.  It is estimated that up to 20% of the population have adverse reactions to foods, NSAID enteropathy, and post-infectious Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
Increased total antigenic load related to food and environmental sensitivities has been associated with a wide range of medical conditions affecting virtually every part of the body. Mood and behavior, including hyperactivity disorders in children are profoundly influenced by food allergies.
IgG-Mediated symptoms may include:

  • Asthma
  • Arthritis
  • Migraines
  • Ear Infections
  • Eczema
  • Sinusitis
  • Urticaria
  • Colitis

Classic skin testing for allergies such as skin-scratch testing only measures IgE-mediated reactions. Assessment of relative IgG antibody levels to a multitude of foods using sensitive Enzyme-Linked-Immnosorbent Assay (ELISA) technology identifies those foods against which the patient is producing antibodies. Measuring both relative IgE and IgG antibody levels provides an invaluable starting point for dietary intervention.
NOTE: When ordering the IgG Food Antibodies test, it will be listed as “Allergy Antibody” on the Order Menu.

The Consequences of Food Allergies

Increased total antigenic load related to food and environmental sensitivities has been associated with a wide range of medical conditions affecting virtually every part of the body. Even mood and behavior, including hyperactivity disorders in children, are profoundly influenced by food allergies. Symptoms can range from mildly uncomfortable to severe and may include:
Asthma, Migraine, Eczema, Urticaria,
Arthritis, Ear infections, Sinusitis, Colitis

IgE vs. IgG Mediated Allergens
Classical skin testing for allergies such as skin-scratch testing, only measures IgE-mediated reactions and provides no information concerning delayed IgG hypersensitivity reactions. Assessment of relative IgG antibody levels to a multitude of foods using sensitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) technology identifies those foods against which the patient is producing antibodies. Measuring both relative IgE and IgG antibody levels provides an invaluable starting point for dietary intervention. The key differences between IgE and IgG mediated allergies are summarized below:

IgE Mediated Allergies
Immediate onset (within minutes)
Circulating half life of 1-2 days
Permanent allergies
Stimulates histamine release
Includes foods, inhalants & molds
IgG Mediated Allergies
Delayed onset (4-72 hours)
Circulating half life of 21 days
Temporary allergies
Stimulates histamine release
Includes foods, herbs & spices

Several controls are routinely included with each test to check for auto reactivity and to ensure optimal accuracy. All IgG Food profiles are accompanied by a customized True Relief® four-day rotation diet that tailors a regime for antibody reduction and symptom alleviation. A personalized patient wallet card highlighting the IgG reactive foods is also provided to assist your patient in following diet recommendations.
